PART 3
The closet door slowly opened.
For a brief moment…
Nobody spoke.
Marcus stood in the doorway, surprised to see Vincent standing calmly beside Elena.
The room became completely still.
Marcus forced a smile.
“So… you’re home earlier than expected.”
Vincent didn’t answer immediately.
He simply looked at his nephew, searching for the honesty he once believed was there.
After a long silence, Vincent finally spoke.
“I never imagined the biggest surprise would come from someone I considered family.”
Marcus lowered his eyes for a second before looking back with confidence.
“Sometimes people choose different paths.”
Elena gently touched Vincent’s arm.
“We don’t have much time.”
Just then, one of the visitors called from another room.
“We’ve searched everywhere.”
Marcus nodded, but his attention never left Vincent.
As everyone focused on the conversation, Elena quietly pressed a small decorative hook hidden behind a row of coats.
A soft click echoed through the wall.
To Vincent’s surprise, a narrow passage slowly appeared behind the closet.
He looked at Elena in disbelief.
“You knew about this?”
She nodded.
“I discovered it during renovation work months ago.”
“I kept it secret because I hoped it would never be needed.”
Without hesitation, they stepped inside.
The hidden passage closed silently behind them.
Only seconds later, Marcus reached the closet again.
It was empty.
His confident expression disappeared.
“They couldn’t have vanished…”
Meanwhile…
Vincent and Elena carefully walked through the quiet underground hallway.
The walls were old.
The lights flickered softly.
It felt like a forgotten part of history.
“My grandfather built this place many years ago,” Vincent explained.
“He believed every home should have a safe path during difficult times.”
Elena smiled.
“Then today, his wisdom is helping us.”
As they continued walking, they reached a point where the tunnel divided into two different directions.
One path led toward the river outside the estate.
The other returned to an older storage area beneath the mansion.
Elena pointed toward the river.
“We could leave safely.”
Vincent remained thoughtful.
Then…
He slowly shook his head.
“If we leave now…”
“…the truth stays hidden.”
Elena understood immediately.
“This isn’t only about protecting yourself anymore.”
Vincent nodded.
“It’s about protecting my family… and giving them a future built on trust.”
For the first time in many years…
Power no longer mattered.
Only the people he loved.
Meanwhile, back inside the mansion…
Marcus walked from room to room, becoming more frustrated.
Every hidden camera suddenly switched back on.
Large screens inside the security room displayed every hallway.
Marcus stared in disbelief.
“Who activated the system?”
A calm voice echoed through the speakers.
“I did.”
Marcus froze.
It was Vincent.
“You only found the security system everyone could see,” Vincent continued.
“You never discovered the one built for moments exactly like this.”
Doors throughout the lower level quietly locked one after another.
Every exit was sealed.
Marcus realized something important.
He had carefully planned every step…
But Vincent had known the house far longer than anyone else.
Standing beside Elena, Vincent looked at the security monitors.
He didn’t want revenge.
He wanted the truth to come to light.
He wanted every misunderstanding inside the family to finally end.
Marcus lowered his head.
For the first time…
He understood that trust, once broken, is almost impossible to rebuild.
